Beverly Zimmer
27" x 17" x 12"
Inspired by self-employment, this figurative bronze is a literal portrayal of being "self-driven". I won a juried competition in 2001 and this piece was shipped to New York City for the gala opening that was to take place Sept. 12, 2001. Sadly, that never came to be because of 9/11. Instead, getting my sculpture back proved to be the challenge! That is a story in itself! I exhibited it several times in the Palm Beach area, winning awards for it.
Because of its unique, and often misunderstood genre, I always found myself in-between galleries who either wanted contemporary, or my realistic sculpture. Always a favorite of visitors, "Respectable" is still available, but rarely seen by the public.
In 2020, "Respectable" was shown in the "Herstory" exhibition, Richland, WA. The show is a collection of works depicting women in art. "Respectable" won Best In Show.
For seriously interested parties, I can take additional photos. I have priced this piece well below its value. It weighs 110 lbs. and is mounted on a black granite base with a brass title tag.
